Job description

Clinical Nurse Consultant- Nutrition

  • Work with an experienced multidisciplinary team to support patients with complex nutrition needs
  • 40 hours a fortnight ongoing
  • Educational opportunities to develop your assessment skills and broader Gastroenterology knowledge
The Royal Melbourne hospital Gastroenterology & Hepatology department provides care and treatment to patients with stomach, intestinal and liver diseases. Our welcoming team comprises of experienced Specialists, Advanced Practice Nurses, Pharmacists and Dieticians, to ensure our inpatients and outpatients receive optimal care.
The Nutrition Clinical Nurse Consultant is a key role who works with the Clinical Nutrition Support team to provide comprehensive, appropriate and timely care to patients with a wide range of nutritional needs.
Your new role:
  • Partner with patients, families and ward staff to deliver hands on training for enteral and parental nutrition
  • Review outpatients through the use of face to face or vitual nurse led clinics
  • Co-ordinate the nurse-led PEG clinic
  • Provide clinical support to patients and clinical areas as needed
About you:
  • You have 5 years + of acute hospital experience with a collaborative working style
  • You have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team
  • You have the abilitity to work autonomosly as an Advanced Practice Nurse
  • You have experience with clinical assessment of patients with complex nutritional needs

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Record Check, and where applicable, Working With Children Check (WWCC). Selection Criteria Essential: Minimum of 5 Years Nursing Experience
Desirable: Post graduate qualification in acute medical, surgical or critical care nursing
