ABOUT PETER MAC CLINICAL NURSE CONSULTANT POOL
Peter Mac CNC Nurse Pool provides an opportunity for experienced clinical nurses to take the next step in their career. The Nurse Consultant is a key member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) providing expert patient centred care.
Your role will be permanent full time or part time (hours negotiable with each candidate, but a minimum of 24 hours per week) and will involve assisting with short-term leave cover throughout the year for the CNC’s whom work across various tumour streams. This is a great opportunity for the successful applicant to develop a well-rounded clinical view of oncology care, and integrate themselves fully within the CNC team.
The role is focused on supporting the planning and coordination of treatment, education and supportive needs for patients with cancer and their families primarily in the outpatient setting. Key to this is responding to patient/family/carer enquiries via telephone or email and providing support in the clinic setting.
Care and treatment provided includes:
- Triaging of new referrals
- Symptom management and support
- Supportive care assessments
- Patient and nursing education
- Attending outpatient clinics with the MDT in a care management role
- Significant experience in Medical Oncology, Haematology or Surgical Oncology at an advanced level.
- Knowledge of anti-cancer therapies including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum five years relevant experience.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification (essential).

Selection Criteria Essential: Are you registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is your nursing registration current?
Essential: Minimum 5 years experience in oncology nursing at a senior level?
