About Us
Sydney Local Health District Drug Health Services is seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join the Drug Health Services team based at RPA Hospital.
Where you will be based
Drug Health Services in Sydney Local Health District aims to reduce the harms associated with substance use for individuals, families and communities living in central Sydney, through evidence-based and patient-centered care in collaboration with other health and non-health partners.
The RPA clinic services, including opioid replacement and ambulatory alcohol withdrawal management, to a diverse population including communities in Glebe, Redfern and Waterloo. The service embraces to principles of harm reduction, trauma informed care, and person centred care.
About the role
The Clinical Nurse Educator provides support and clinical development/ training to staff while fostering a preceptor/mentor role. The role formulates, coordinates, and evaluates unit based educational programs; assessment and demonstration of clinical procedures.
The aim of the position is to use a participation methodology to build:
- The capacity of individuals to deliver safe, evidenced based care, incorporating reflective practice with the aim of continual improvement.
- A patient and family focused culture that supports the NUM and staff to deliver innovative models of care and proactively manage change.
- The position contributes to the overall improvement of health service delivery.
- A current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and relevant post registration experience in the specialty.
- An understanding and experience in various teaching methodologies including the ability to plan, conduct and evaluate unit based education.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
