The role:
In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping the future of our team by orienting new staff to our specialised environment, procedures, and protocols. Your responsibilities will encompass developing and delivering comprehensive training programs to enhance staff competence and compliance with best practices in endoscopy. Collaborating closely with the Nurse Educator of Medical and Interventional Services, you will contribute to broader educational initiatives across the facility, participate in quality improvement projects, and engage in interdisciplinary research and meetings.
The position, 20 hours per week, offers flexibility in workdays and hours to accommodate educational activities and training needs, typically scheduled from 0800hrs to 1630hrs. To excel in this role, you should demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in endoscopic procedures, coupled with a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, sedation management, and post-procedural care. Your ability to lead educational endeavors, mentor colleagues, and foster a culture of continuous learning will be critical.

John Hunter Hospital is located within the Hunter New England Local Health District and is nestled between multiple beautiful beaches and the magnificent Hunter Valley vineyards which are just an hour’s drive away. The hospital has direct access to public transport and is close to numerous public schools and several major shopping centres.
The NSW Government has committed $835 million to redevelop the John Hunter and John Hunter Children's Hospital. The John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct project will deliver an innovative and integrated precinct with industry-leading facilities. The project will work in collaboration with health, education, and research partners to meet the current and future needs of the greater Newcastle, Hunter New England, and Northern NSW regions.
