Biala Services Incorporated is a small not-for-profit organisation located in Charlestown NSW, committed to providing an excellent level of care for members in the local community who are Aged and isolated or people living with disability.
Due to a retirement, Biala is looking for a cook to work on a Permanent Part Time basis at our Charlestown Head office.
The Role:
This is a 20 -25 hour per week position predominantly working in the Inspired Aged Living program cooking for our day program customers but will also include catering for Biala’s Community Access NDIS program and special events such as bi – monthly Board meetings.
The people that utilise Biala’s service are accustomed to and enjoy home style, basic meals that are nutritious, tasty and satisfying. As with any good meal, it is always followed by a home cooked dessert!
You will have creative control over menu planning, ordering and even sourcing suppliers. No two days will look the same. The general work hours for this position are 9am – 2pm 4-5 days per week, depending on program however hours may be flexible for the right candidate.
To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:
- Previous cook experience
- Certificate 3 in Cookery
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
- Understanding of hygienic and professional standards of food safety including preparation, storage and delivery of goods.
- The ability to work autonomously and within set policies and procedures.
- The ability to cater for food intolerances and special diets (FODMAP, Gluten Free, Puree foods etc).
- The ability to understand and work within budget guidelines.
First Aid Certificate along with NDIS worker check is advantageous but not necessary.
