Are you an experienced neurosciences registered nurse with a passion for education?
Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH) is seeking a Neurosciences CNE to work with the combined 20 bed neurology/neurosurgery ward and 4 bed neuro high dependency unit. Essentials of Care is embedded in the practice of our neuroscience nurses. The specialty also cares for patients undergoing interventional neuroradiology. You will be well supported by our dedicated neuroscience NUM and CNCs along with additional support from the hospital's Nursing Education Workforce and Research Unit. Our ward is relocating to the brand new POWH Acute Services Building in early 2023
This is a temporary full time position until May 2023 working Monday to Friday with public holidays off.

The CNE provides coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical nurse education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. Such education may include orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff. Provides clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Selection Criteria * Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
- Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification or 3 years clinical experience in the field
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles)
- Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment
- Computer literacy and understanding of hospital information systems
