Think Parents, Bumps + Bubs is a new multi-disciplinary Private Practice aimed at supporting new and expectant parents through pregnancy and the postnatal period. Our team offers mental health and parenting support, relationship support, feeding support, and support for improving sleep. More information about our practice is available on our website www.thinkparentsbumpsandbubs.com.au.
We’re looking for experienced Child and Family Health Nurses to join our clinical team on a contractor basis. As a contractor, your hours of work are completely determined by you, and you’re welcome to work as many or as few hours as you like.
We’re looking for professionals who can help new and expectant parents to:
- Understand what to expect the first few weeks and months with a newborn
- Recognise and respond to infant cues
- Understand normal infant sleep and feeding needs
- Have strategies for settling baby
- Have support for feeding difficulties - (breast and bottle feeding, depending on what suits mum best and works best for her)
- Have support for sleep challenges
- Develop sleep and feed routines that meet baby where he’s at developmentally
Our philosophy is that motherhood is already hard enough, and too often mums are made to feel bad about ‘failing’ to meet unrealistic standards like exclusive breastfeeding for a minimum of 6 months and self-settling with undisturbed overnight sleep from 12-weeks.
Our goal is to offer support that actually helps parents feel supported, by helping them to understand normal infant behaviour - so they’re not left feeling like they’re doing something wrong when BUB doesn’t want to sleep through the night from birth - and to have an approach to feeding and sleep challenges that works and meets parents where they’re at and fits with their parenting values and what they’re comfortable with.
We would love to hear from applicants:
- Who are passionate about supporting mums and new parents struggling to adjust to parenthood
- With a solutions and support-focussed attitude
- With relevant qualifications and registration with AHPRA (if applicable)
- With IBCLC certification (if applicable)
- Who are non-judgmental about the way parents choose to feed and settle their little ones to sleep
- Who believe in mum-centred or parent-centred care
- Who can tailor intervention and support to the individual needs and preferences of parents
- With strong interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and care
- With experience in maternal mental health, or an interest in learning more about postnatal anxiety/depression
To apply, please submit both a CV and a cover letter.
