Royal Melbourne Hospital Clinical Nurse Manager – Peri anaesthetic
The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) is part of the Royal Melbourne hospital Perioperative Service Nursing Leadership Team and acts as a Deputy for the Nurse Unit Manager. The CNM will have responsibility for several designated clinical, operational, and quality portfolios. The CNM will work collaboratively with the perioperative, 3East, 3West and Anaesthetic/Surgical medical teams to ensure quality patient care is achieved. The Clinical Nurse Manager will be a professional role model, demonstrating consultative, innovative and responsible leadership.
About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Manager will further support the Perioperative Management team, particularly the Nurse Unit Manager, with forward planning, care provision, STEP initiatives and maintaining organisational KPI’s.
They work collaboratively with the biomed and equipment nurse, ensuring the provision of education and support for the clinical application of equipment as well as ensuring the timely execution of contracts and equipment trials relating to owned, consignment or loaned assets where applicable.
They support and ensure the delivery or orientation to new staff and that the education and training requirements are achieved in a collaborative way.
The RMH Perioperative Services encompass multiple departments.
- Main Operating Suite with 16 Theatres and 25 Recovery Bays
- 3 West Day Procedure Unit with 3 procedure rooms/theatres
- 3 East Day of Surgery Admission (DOSA) and a 12-bed, 23-hour Ward
- Sterilisation Processing Services (CSSD)
- Facilitate the anaesthesia and PACU nursing support for remote locations (Radiology, Cardiac Catheter Lab & MRI)
About you
- Hold a post grad Peri anaesthetic/ Perioperative qualification diploma/certificate
- Minimum 4 years peri anaesthetic experience at a senior level
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer literacy using hospital-based programs as well as use of Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to demonstrate high level of written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to practice both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary health care team
- Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritising skills
- Demonstrate a high level of motivation and commitment to ongoing development of new technology and acquisition of new knowledge to support same
