About the role:

  • As a Clinical Psychologist you will provide a high-quality clinical service to people and their families and carers to support recovery.
  • You have experience in the provision of clinical services to people with severe and complex presentations requiring advanced practice skills in Mental Health assessment, care coordination, discipline specific and psychotherapeutic evidence-based interventions.
  • Knowledge, skills and experience are expected in exercising independent clinical judgement in the provision of consumer-centred assessment, diagnosis, intervention and consultancy to consumers/carers and other health professionals/Clinical Medical Officers to ensure delivery of innovative clinical practice models and therapeutic techniques.
  • You will also need experience in working as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team, along with providing clinical and professional guidance to others.

  • Lake Macquarie Mental Health Service (LMMHS) has an experienced psychology team, who are able to provide supervision and support to our successful applicant. Support includes access to Psychology peer supervision, provision of individual supervision, CBT-E supervision, eating disorders peer supervision and supervision our psychiatrist around working with complex cases. In addition, there may be the opportunity to run therapy groups with the support of the multi-disciplinary team. Clinical Supervision and a comprehensive orientation package are provided to support career growth and success in this role. You will also have opportunities for involvement in an array of professional development activities.
  • Our multidisciplinary team comprises a range of experienced Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Dietitian and Psychiatrists that work collaboratively to provide excellent Mental Health care. Our team has a reputation within Hunter New England Mental Health as being a nurturing and teaching environment for staff.
  • Four weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part-time employees)

About the location:
  • Lake Macquarie area is the southern gateway to the coastal Hunter Region, home of pristine beaches and the beautiful Lake Macquarie providing an idyllic place to work and live.
  • Living in Lake Macquarie has the best of both a coastal and metro lifestyle, it is close to the hub of the city of Newcastle but also is surrounded by beautiful beaches, as well as highlighting that the wine country of the Hunter Valley and beautiful Port Stephens are only a short distance to travel.
Requirements:
  • Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.

  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritise competing demands and promote professional expertise within a multidisciplinary team.
