Role type: Two positions available: Full-time; Continuing (open to part-time) and Full-time; Fixed Term for 12 months

Salary: UOM 4 - $73,943 - $78,476 p.a. plus 17% super (pro rata for part-time)

About the Role
As the Clinical Skills Support Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating and advancing the Clinical Skills training of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students. You will collaborate closely with students, academic staff, and other stakeholders. Your primary objective is to foster the development of practical competencies, ensuring students acquire a comprehensive understanding of clinical practices.
This role necessitates working across multiple sites and campuses across Victoria
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Under the guidance of the Director of Veterinary Education, the DVM4 Year Coordinator, and relevant rotation coordinators, provide practical instructional assistance and support to DVM students during their clinical rotations at sites such as Green cross Veterinary Hospital at the University of Melbourne, Lost Dog's Home, Pathology Services, and other embedded clinical sites as required
  • Assemble and support the delivery of comprehensive Clinical Skills training and assessments that focus on essential veterinary competencies for students
  • Demonstrating in laboratory practical classes as required. Assist with the provision of teaching support, including anesthesia and basic surgical techniques
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking an effective team player who can demonstrate advanced organisational and time management skills along with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks to meet competing demands in a fast-paced environment. You are a flexible thinker with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and can professionally build and maintain rapport with a wide range of stakeholders from all diversities.
You will also have:
  • Completion of a relevant Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) with relevant work experience. A Diploma of Veterinary Nursing is highly desirable
  • Experience of supporting training, education or development of students or staff in a veterinary setting
  • Proven experience in application of Occupational Health and Safety management systems and practices in a clinical setting

This position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check to ensure the University provides a safe environment for everyone.
