About the role

An exciting role of a Cloud Engineer has become available in the Technology Services and Commercial division of the Coles Group.

• The primary objective of this role is to be responsible for the development, testing and product ionisation of automated infrastructure as code using Azure resources for the various infrastructure and application teams within Coles.
• Review and inform infrastructure and security designs put forward by the wider architecture groups
• Provide technical expertise and advice (including documentation) as appropriate to the organisation and provide support to application teams using Azure services

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Ability to communicate key delivery and transition risks effectively to IT and business stakeholders
• Manage and lead; directly managed and ‘virtual’ (outsourced) team members.
• Line management of Business Analysts, Senior Business Managers and Project/Program Managers.
• Deep understanding of Technology in a retail environment
• Capability to manage senior stakeholder communications during releases and in significant outage service level impact situations to enable key recovery decisions to be made with all the required information
• Ability to lead and manage a large functional area comprising multi-disciplined teams.
• In depth expertise in managing teams in a dynamic project environment and with a mix of permanent, contractor, outsourced and offshore teams with different commercial arrangements.
• Managing Commercial outcomes including with third party suppliers.
• Ability to facilitate the resolution of difficult technical issues leveraging a range different support arrangements, teams, and personnel to achieve the outcome and minimise service level impacts
• Provide leadership and guidance to the wider IT community in relation to application technology for assigned business areas
• Drive successful IT/business outcomes in a cost-effective and timely manner
• Develop strong networks and relationships with industry contacts to understand and assess leading practice and successful implementation approaches
• Protect and enhance Coles’ reputation with customers, stakeholders, regulators and media

• Accountable for personal compliance with internal company policies, procedures and codes, e.g. Code of Conduct, and all applicable external laws, regulations, standards and industry codes e.g. Fair trading Laws
• Commitment to the corporate and or relevant Brand/ Retail Support Compliance Program
• Accountable for individual compliance with company values, policies and procedures (including Coles Code of Conduct) and all applicable external laws and regulations.

About you & your skills

Proven experience in software development especially in cloud native applications:

• Development skills including:
  • DevOps (JFrog Artifactory, X-Ray, Azure Resource Manager, Azure DevOps, GitHub, GCP)
  • scripting skills (Perl, Python, Bash, Powershell)
• Experience with on-premises and cloud deployments
• Experience in Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform and Ansible
• Knowledge of distributed computing, web services, API, integration technologies, networking, protocols and design patterns;
• Strong experience with engineering practices, including:
  • Packaging, provisioning, configuration as code, logging and monitoring
  • Source code management
  • Continuous integration
  • Automation: build, test, and deploy
• Proven experience with Agile development and working with Agile Teams

• Appropriate tertiary qualification and/or relevant industry experience
• AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator certification and/or relevant industry experience
• Strong understanding of agile and Extreme Programming practices
• Hands on experience implementing complex solutions using multiple frameworks.
