As we expand our operations, we are seeking a seasoned professional with over 10 years of hands-on experience to join us as a Senior System Administrator. This role is pivotal in supporting our internal and external customers in Managed Services, requiring expertise in Microsoft Windows and Linux environments, Active Directory administration, IIS Service, Bash and PowerShell scripting and deep knowledge of AWS Cloud services.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of skilled system administrators, providing technical guidance and support.
- Act as a subject matter expert, contributing to strategic decision-making processes.
- Providing consulting expertise that extends beyond routine problem-solving.
System Administration:
- Microsoft Windows Specialist (build, install, configure, patch, tune, and troubleshoot)
- Hands-on experience with Linux environment
- Configure systems based on approved designs of the system and network security.
- Monitor and analyse resource usage to recommend/develop enhancements to system capabilities and performance.
- Compare, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and integrate systems into the computing environment.
- Document systems infrastructure, processes and procedures for customers.
- Support on-prem and cloud servers, including security configurations, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Configure, implement and maintain system security strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborating with the team on future direction and opportunities for new technologies.
- Administer IIS services, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Implement and manage AWS Cloud services, including EC2, EKS, S3, IAM, cost optimisation, etc
- Utilise PowerShell scripting to develop and automate tasks, enhancing operational efficiency.
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
- Research and plan to stay up to date with new technologies.
- ITIL framework knowledge (Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management
Customer Support:
- Serve as a key point of contact for external customers, addressing and resolving technical issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide exceptional Managed Services support.
- Excellent communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of proven experience in system administration.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud services.
- Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, etc) are highly desirable.
