The Gallipoli Legion Club (known as The Gal) is situated in the heart of Beaumont Street in Newcastle. The club is a traditional Club with an exciting 'entertainment twist'.
The Gal is known for being a well established live music venue bringing in thousands of people over the years to attend music gigs, comedy events and a range of other traditional and eclectic entertainment. The function space has capacity for 250 pax standing. The function room has been set up with high end audio/visual equipment which assists in selling this space for seminars, live streaming conferencing and training sessions.
The Gal has a range of offerings for its members including; Badge Draws, Live Music, Open Mic Nights, Karaoke, Jukebox, Pool and Snooker tables and comps, Darts, Raffles, Footy Tipping, Bingo and a good mix of bistro food and bar snacks. The club has a membership of just over 1,000 and has a small, dedicated staff of around 6 along with a committed Board of 6 Directors. There is also a TAB and Keno facilities along with a gaming installation of 21 EGMs, running through eBet software.
The Gal is looking for a new General Manager / Club Managerdue to the recent retirement of the long term General Manager. The successful candidate will come with a hands-on outlook to management and be happy to chip in and help with all areas of the operation as well as ensure thAT The Board are informed of all activities and trading through monthly Board reports.
This is definitely a role for an all round hospitality manager who can embrace this small club and have passion for its ongoing success.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong experience in the hospitality industry at supervisory / management level and be able to understand all that it takes to lead a club of this size.
To take up this challenge you will:
- Be an experienced Hospitality Manager
- Have good knowledge and experience of all operational areas in a Club
- Be experience in overseeing finances and managing reporting
- Have a sound knowledge of policies and procedures across all operational areas including HR
- Be able to lead and motivate a team
- Be able to work collaboratively with the Board to meet the strategic goals
- Have previous success in the marketing and promotions of a venue
- Have a strong customer service focus
- Be knowledgeable in all areas of Club Legislation, AML/CTF and compliance
- Hold RSA and RCG and Advanced Certificates where needed
- Have the ability to hold the Club's Licence
