POSITION: Multi-Discipline Surf Sports Coach – Full time (3 Year minimum preferred)
LOCATION: Mermaid Beach, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Surf Sports Coach to support our Head Coach and Hall of Fame inductee, Ky Hurst. If you are a high-performance candidate with a passion for Surf Sports and a desire to make a difference, we want to hear from you. As a key member of our coaching staff, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing talent, fostering growth, and achieving success in Surf Sports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement training programs tailored to the needs of athletes in our Surf Sports team including junior activities members.
Provide expert coaching in various Surf Sports disciplines, including but not limited to swimming, surf ski, board, and ironman racing.
Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Analyse performance and provide constructive feedback to athletes to enhance their skills and maximize their potential.
Collaborate with fellow coaches and club officials to coordinate training schedules, competitions, and events.
Serve as a mentor and role model for athletes, instilling values of dedication, discipline, and resilience.
Assist the Surf Sports committee with organisation and administration of our Surf Sports team.
REQUIREMENTS
Holds a recognized Surf Life Saving Coaching Qualification (Foundation, Development or Performance)
Hold a current blue card – working with children
Hold a current drivers licence
Strong knowledge of swimming, Surf Sports techniques, and training methodologies
Possesses a deep understanding of surf lifesaving principles and competition formats
Demonstrates a proven ability to develop and motivate athletes of all levels, foster an environment that fuels ambition
Is a strong communicator with exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills
Has a passion for surf lifesaving and a commitment to athlete safety
Demonstrated experience as an athlete or coach in and Surf Sports, preferably at a competitive level
Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes
Proven track record of success in developing athletes and achieving competitive results
A passion for Surf Sports and a commitment to promoting the values of surf lifesaving within the community
DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Strong administrative skills and a desire to assist the Surf Sports Committee in Surf Sports management/administration will be favourably considered. Candidates with these skills and motivation will be offered additional responsibilities and hours associated with Surf Sports administration with higher remuneration.
