An opportunity exists for a Casual Coal Technician to work at our onsite laboratory based at Maules Creek near Boggabri - NSW . If you have a drive to produce quality results and a strong team spirit, we would like to hear from you. Reporting to the Mine Site Supervisor, you will be involved in aspects of Quality, Turnaround Time, Client Service and Productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Available for shift coverage (Planned and Unplanned)
- Collection of a range of production and train samples
- Performing a range of preparation and analytical tests including Ash, Moisture and Total Sulphur
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and to agreed standard operating instructions
- Checking and validating all results to ensure that they are within repeatability tolerances
- Maintaining laboratory equipment: Ovens/Furnaces, Leco/Sulfur
- Optimising turnaround time for samples whilst ensuring the highest quality of results is achieved and maintained
- Ensuring Quality Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures are followed
- Ensuring a high standard of housekeeping and presentation of all equipment and work areas
- 12 hour shift work will be required

- Previous industry experience would be an advantage
- Valid Drivers’ License
Training will be provided to the successful candidate. Shift coverage and working a reasonable amount of overtime may be mandatory for this role.
This position requires organisational skills, good time management and attention to detail. Your ability to learn on the job, remain motivated whilst working independently without constant supervision in a high volume and dynamic environment will ensure your success.
The successful applicant must be proactive, highly motivated and be able to demonstrate that they work well in a multi-skilled environment with a commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement in the work place. Training will be provided to the successful candidate. Shift work and overtime may be required for this role.
As part of the selection process, a pre-employment medical exam is required; including a drug and alcohol assessment.
