Mater Pathology has an opportunity for a Collection Centre Supervisor within the Phlebotomy team. The Collection Supervisor's role is to provide leadership and governance over the Phlebotomy team in Collection Rooms to ensure the professional collection of specimens which meet customer expectations and quality and safety standards. This role will champion the necessity to meticulously identify specimens and to accurately transfer data throughout the handling process.This role is based at the Mater Hospital South Brisbane campus.Mater Pathology currently have 35 Collection Rooms throughout Brisbane Metropolitan, Logan & Ipswich areas. Mater is expanding and will soon open additional rooms in the Gold Coast & surrounding areas.Shifts are Monday to Friday covering rotating shifts over a 3-week period.
- Week 1. 0454am to 1300pm
- Week 2. 0654am to 1500pm
- Week 3. 0854am to 1700pm
- Week 3. "On Call" Saturday & Sunday
- Monitor and promote the necessity to meticulously identify specimens, accurately transfer data throughout the handling process and highlight the serious consequences of misidentification and mishandling.
- Participate in clinical risk assessments and investigations as required.
- Engage and participate in clinical meetings to ensure the service meets customer expectations.
- Monitor and coach staff regarding collection error rates to ensure excellence in patient care.
- Supervisory responsibility includes training of team members, coordination of workflow processes and responsibility for quality of output of the Phlebotomy team within the Collection Rooms.
- Participation in performance reviews and ongoing performance management of subordinate staff will be required.
- Recognizes and addresses inefficiencies in service provision, and continuously improves business processes.
- Strong customer experience background to manage the ongoing relationship with clinical staff and Doctors within Medical Centres that Mater service.
- Deliver customer experience of a high standard by ensuring a professional appearance and positive personal interactions.
- Demonstrates a high level of oral and written communication skills to ensure staff and customer needs are met.
- Demonstrated advanced data analysis and computer skills in laboratory systems and MS Office suite.
- Contributes to operational decision-making and identifies opportunities for improved financial outcomes.
- Ensure adequate stock and equipment management processes are in place to meet the needs of customers and avoids waste.
- Undertake purchases as required through appropriate financial management practices.
- A background in customer service and /or
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment desirable but not essential
- Certificate III in Phlebotomy or equivalent relevant experience Highly Desirable
