Commercial Analyst
Forming part of our Electrification & Innovation (E&I) business, the Commercial Analyst is responsible for supporting commercial modelling across E&I's product portfolio, conducting due diligence on potential acquisitions and drafting business cases to support internal and external investment decisions. This role supports the Commercialisation and Data Lead, working together to ensure the strong commercial viability of E&I's entire product portfolio.
This role sits within the Commercial & Data Enabling Function which is responsible for supporting Value Streams on commercial, financial and data analysis/modelling required across all E&I products. This enables AGL
Key accountabilities of this role
- Business Case Development: Create compelling and data-driven business cases for products at various stages of the innovation cycle to support investment decisions with support from cross-functional teams. Ensure consistency in business case quality and style.
- Commercial Modelling: Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to analyse the commercial viability of new products and ventures including revenue projections and cost-benefit analyses. Conduct sensitivity analyses and scenario planning to assess potential financial outcomes.
- Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence for potential acquisitions, including financial analysis, market assessments, and risk evaluations. Collaborate with legal and operational teams to assess the overall fit and potential synergies.
- Competitive Analysis: Conduct in-depth analyses of competitors' products, pricing, and market positioning to identify opportunities and threats in the market.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and support for commercialization efforts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and product development, to ensure a unified approach to commercialisation and data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications, key skills and experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Data Science; a Master's degree preferred.
- Experience (3+ years) in commercial analysis, business modelling and/or market research, preferably in innovation-driven environments.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with a strong command of Excel, or other relevant software.
- Experience in conducting due diligence for acquisitions, with experience within the decarbonisation sector desirable.
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with a passion for contributing to the success of commercialization initiatives through data-driven insight.Experience in Agile methodologies and tools.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, managing multiple work requests concurrently, ensuring efficient time management.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a passion for driving innovation and results.
