The Commercial and Contracts Manager will report directly to the Regional Deployment Manager for APAC, assisting and advising project managers with managing the risks and obligations in upstream and downstream contracts during the deployment phase of utility projects. With a strong and confident understanding of contractual mechanisms, commercial exposure, and construction practices, this role will be responsible for all commercial tasks for EPC and Equipment Only (EO) projects through execution. The Commercial and Contracts Manager will be a point of escalation and will participate in negotiations directly with customers. The ideal candidate will be a proven people leader with team growth and mentoring experience.
- Supporting the deployment team in delivery of the APAC portfolio of megapack projects with a focus on contractual and commercial matters.
- Lead administration of the head contracts and subcontract obligations to ensure contractual compliance.
- Lead all commercial aspects: EOTs, variations, payment, compliance, execution of contractually required deeds, payments, security, contract adjustments, completion.
- Identification of program risks, opportunities, and strategic assessment and reporting of risks and implementation of control measures.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with preparation and presentation of monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Contribute to overall Commercial and contractual strategy.
- Use leadership and negotiation skills to successfully identify and assist with resolving contractual issues, managing stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Support the project managers with strategic and tactical guidance on complex contractual matters.
- People leadership responsibilities include the mentoring and direct management of several junior staff.
- Bachelor's in engineering / law / business or evidence of relevant experience in the sector.
- 7+ years' experience in similar commercial / contracts positions, preferably within the renewable energy sector or large construction project sector.
- Highly developed communication skills including negotiation..
- Understanding of EPC Contracts, Project Management principles and construction practices.
- Self-starter, with a passion for driving the transition to sustainable energy.
