Our client is a vibrant company of field technicians, professional engineers, wood scientists, and steel corrosion experts, leveraging more than 80 years of expertise in identifying and solving structural issues that impact customer asset health, structural resiliency, and help meeting safety and reliability requirements. Services include asset inspections, minor maintenance of power poles, streetlight reinforcing, wood pole reinforcing, steel structure inspections and repairs, stray voltage detection, and utility pole engineering. The company is going through the phase of growing market presence, and would like entrepreneurial, proactive and innovative candidates to become a part of their journey.

As a result this new exciting opportunity has been created for a Commercial Manager with strong leadership skills and experience. The role has responsibilities for procurement of contracts, tenders, compiling of bids, and pricing, whilst building relationships with functional stakeholders, the business development team, external subject experts and customers. Reporting into the Director, Operational Excellence, you will be an integral member of the management team. This position can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Perth and will require full time working from home. You will be responsible for building relationships with the Business Development Team and key stakeholders for upcoming Tenders. This will involve defining and managing commercial terms and conditions, building dynamic pricing models for commercial contracts maintaining margins, and developing attractive contractual models for all parties. You will be responsible for driving efficiencies to ensure contracts remain financially viable and achieve growth targets and negotiating and liaising with Legal on contracts terms, and understand legal and regulatory compliance of contracts and their execution. You will also support the BD team by analysing key metrics like profitability, cash flow, et. al. of commercial opportunities.

Suitable candidates will have 3+ years prior experience in business development, negotiation, tendering process and/or commercial management and strong commercial acumen and business understanding. You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and be a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills (solution focused) and be up to date on industry trends, as well as laws and regulations. You will have exposure and conceptual understanding of contract law and pricing and applicable tertiary qualifications in Commercial Management/Law or equivalent experience.
