Job description

An opportunity exists for a Commercial Planning Assistant to become part of our team; Australasia’s largest co product stockfeed team. The role will suit someone seeking a part time role; 30 hours a week which can consist of 4 days or 5 short days.

Castlegate James has been helping Australian and New Zealand farmers and animal nutritionists achieve optimum livestock production targets through a range of high performance, specialty co– product stock feeds. Castlegate James products are mainly directed at the ruminant feed market, dairy and beef cattle, sheep, and goats. Our product range includes major grains, protein meals, manufactured moist feeds, traditional grain mixes, sugar/starch/energy mixes, pellets and an extensive range of co-product stock feeds which have been sourced from the food and beverage industries around Australia.

This role will be based in Braybrook with the requirement to travel to our manufacturing Sites as required. Reporting to the Planning and Capability Manager, the Commercial Planning Assistant will be responsible in overseeing and assisting the incoming and outgoing goods scheduling nationally and ensuring all data is captured and recorded in the appropriate formats, in an accurate and timely manner

The position requires you to Provide a consistent, high quality customer service for all clientele (both external and internal) with particular emphasis on timeliness, accuracy and proficiency

 Your responsibilities will include:

  • In conjunction with the Planning and Capability Manager ensure our planning system (edit grid) is updated within the required timelines for both internal and external supply lines. Stock holding levels should be minimized whilst at the same time ensuring sufficient stocks of each material and consumable are held to meet demand without stock outs. 
  • Ensure all orders are entered promptly and accurately into edit grid as they are received confirming price and quantity in stock. 
  • Roll out new uniformed edit grids for both Manufacturing and Co products.
  • Edit Grids are maintained in a rolling 12-month format with orders entered 3 months in advance.
  • Ensure all orders are entered promptly and accurately into Edit Grid and work with the Sales Team to ensure orders are entered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor all customer contracts and orders that are received for the contract period and fulfilled within contract terms. 
  • Weekly reporting on Customer Contract Usage and following up with the Sales Team on missing contracted orders.
  • Work with the manufacturing sites and admin to ensure all inbound and outbound figures are entered correctly to capture a correct stock on hand.
  • Assist in coordination of short supply and alert sales team accordingly and oversupply of raw materials.
  • Capture missed opportunities and report to management on volumes unable to supply monthly.
  • Support the wider team in completing edit grid duties where required and actively following up responsible parties to maintain edit grids.
  • Work with sites to identify ideal stock cover given projected sales
  • Chair, minute and police actions for weekly edit grid meeting.
  • Assist the Planning and Capability Manager with other tasks where necessary, along with specific projects as agreed from time to time as requested by the wider Commercial Management Team

You will have the experience and skills

  • 3+ years’ experience working in role preferably in with experience in scheduling and forecasting.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Microsoft CRM and D365 experience desirable
