Lead commercialisation initiatives for CSIRO Data61

You will be joining one of Australia's premier commercialisation teams. CSIRO has established over 213 new companies that develop and market innovative products and services based on our work, and at any point we have hundreds of licences through which industry accesses and benefits from our work.
You will be working primarily with CSIRO's Data61 Business Unit, at the forefront of digital science and innovation, and with one of the largest AI and data science research groups in the world. In this role, you will engage closely with Data61's research, and with investors, entrepreneurs, and others in the national innovation ecosystem, to help bring Data61's science and technology to life through new ventures, or by licensing to support existing industries, and ultimately deliver impact for CSIRO and Australia.

Your duties will include:
Working collaboratively with CSIRO's Data61 Business Unit and the broader business development and growth team, to identify, develop, and execute commercial strategies for a range of Data61's science and technologies to maximise their potential impact and return.
Establishing networks with relevant investors, industry and technology partners and customers, entrepreneurs and other supporters, and leverage those networks in creating and executing technology commercialisation strategies.
Leading and negotiating commercialisation transactions, including licensing and the creation of new ventures.
Developing deep and trusted relationships as a team player across CSIRO and with researchers, investors, partners and customers.
Crafting compelling commercial narratives around CSIRO's science and technology.
Location: CSIRO Sites in all major AU Cities. A hybrid working environment is available.
Salary: AU $146,207 - $161,767 per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:
Experience in identifying and curating a portfolio of commercialisation opportunities, and in developing, supporting and executing on strategies to incubate, accelerate, and ultimately commercialise science and technology.
A track record of achieving commercialisation outcomes, and experience in developing business models and sourcing funding, and leading and negotiating commercialisation transactions (for example, licensing and the creation of new ventures and companies).
Demonstrated results in utilising strong business acumen and leveraging internal and external networks.
Professional networks in the finance, venture capital, innovation and/or entrepreneurial community.
Excellent and effective communication skills and an ability to craft a compelling narrative around science and technology.
Demonstrated ability to build deep trusted relationships and to work collaboratively across a large, complex organisation to deliver results.
Tertiary qualifications such as a degree in science or engineering and post graduate business qualification and/or equivalent relevant experience.
