Your Mandate:
Leadership with Purpose: to manage QFES in a way that ensures QFES performs its functions under this Act effectively and efficiently
Collaboration and Diplomacy: preserve and build productive working relationships with stakeholders, identifying tactful and diplomatic management practices to support their differing and competing requirements and priorities
Transparent Governance: mobilise effective and efficient governance, administration and operation of the department, fostering an environment of accountability for the performance of its functions and associated outcomes.
Innovation and Excellence: pursue with transparency, the administration of the departments legislation as set out below to promote their purpose, encouraging innovation through understanding of the principal responsibilities required to deliver the Queensland Government's objectives for the community
Ethical Leadership: model to the highest level, standards of ethical behaviour, operating with transparency in decision making, establishing consistency for the application of these practices
Strategic Influence: coordinate the appropriate services required to ensure the Minister is positioned to deliver the priorities set out in the Ministerial Charter Letter for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services

From July 2024, QFES will become the Queensland Fire Department (QFD) as part of reforms recommended in the 2021 Independent Review of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. Reforms underway have already seen Disaster Management and Marine Rescue functions transfer to the Queensland Police Service.
