About the Role
The Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission is a specialist industrial tribunal and court of record. Established by the Industrial Relations Act 1979 (WA), the Industrial Relations Commission resolves disputes about industrial matters, including any matter relating to the work, privileges, rights or duties of employers or employees in industry.
The Associate will act as the personal confidential assistant to Chief Commissioner Kenner and provide high level support to ensure the effective administration and management of the Chief Commissioner's Chambers.
You will be responsible for the following:
- providing high level, confidential administrative support to the Chief Commissioner;
- organising and running hearings and conciliation conferences before the Chief Commissioner;
- liaising with parties to proceedings before the Commission including individual parties, legal counsel, as well as employee and employer organisations; and
- undertaking a range of legal and industrial relations research, drafting documents and overseeing case management.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly organised individual, who has a high level of attention to detail and a strong ability to work autonomously as well as part of a small team.
You will have high level research skills, and a demonstrated ability to write succinctly and in plain English.
You will have completed, or be currently completing, a tertiary qualification in law or a relevant discipline or experience deemed equivalent. Applicants in their penultimate or final year of a law degree are encouraged to apply.
