Summary:
Powin is looking for a key contributor to the fulfillment of Utility scale Battery Energy Storage projects. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Engineer who will play a critically important role in bringing the Waratah Super Battery project from construction phase through commissioning and performance validation.
This role will partner with a team of Commissioning Engineers and field service technicians, including support for engineering and data analytics to successfully fulfill contract deliverables and other large scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. You will be based in Melbourne with a good mix of WFH and with the opportunity to travel internationally to be a part of their incredible projects overseas.
Job Details:
- Set up system operation environment, configure EMS/HMI, enclosure related equipment and network devices
- Provide resolution and keep track of field issues, work closely with engineering and QC team to report on-site feedback in a timely manner
- Provide technical support to field team and ASPs
- Perform BESS system commissioning; examine/inspect conditions, identify issues, errors, run contractual capacity, performance, and operational testing
- Work with PCS, Meter, and third-party equipment providers on equipment commissioning
- Prepare commissioning and test reports
- Work with system operation team to fix protentional issues
- Provide field feedback to software team to reproduce issues to improve system performance and stability
- Drive projects from commission to COD, assist with managing schedules, preparation of detailed commissioning schedules, and ensure all activities take place to meet the scheduled milestone date
- Participate in project meetings, including contractor and subcontractor meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in related field, such as utility construction, commissioning, performance testing, and troubleshooting
- Proven experience in leading matrix teams for successful delivery of complex projects related to energy infrastructure or related field
- Strong with software/firmware engineering (Phyton, C & C++)
- Electrical License in Australia preferred
- Service experience preferred, (turnarounds, recommissioning, performance testing, troubleshooting, startup, and shutdowns) in time compressed environments
- Strong decision-making ability and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical skills, communication skills and creativity
- Advanced with computer skills (Microsoft Suites)
