Company Overview

Catholic Schools NSW (CSNSW) as the Approved System Authority and representative body for NSW Catholic schools, representing NSW Catholic schools and the NSW/ACT Bishops who oversee Catholic schools in each diocese. Catholic Schools in NSW educate approximately one in five NSW students.

Under its Constitution, CSNSW acts as the overarching entity for the purposes of advancing education and religion in Catholic schools in NSW. 

Primary Purpose of the role

Supporting the Public Affairs team, the Communication and Events Officer will provide Communication and Events support to build and maintain CSNSW key stakeholder relationships with schools, diocesan offices, school owners, government, media outlets, and other stakeholders. Through the utilisation of traditional media, social media, online activities, events and stakeholder outreach.

This is a full time position with a requirement to work in our Sydney, CBD office.

Key responsibilities 

The Communication and Events Officer has a variety of responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Source and prepare editorial and visual content for CSNSW’s social media, website and e-newsletter.
  • Develop and manage the content creation schedule and engagement strategy for social media.
  • Liaise with external agencies, contractors and stakeholders on key company projects or general enquiries.
  • Moderate and evaluate engagement across Communication and  social media channels.
  • Report on the key performance metrics of relevant channels.
  • Research and write a range of internal and external communications including media briefings, media  releases and stakeholder communications.
  • Event planning and organisation, from early-stage planning and acting as the company liaison for speakers and attendees, to managing event-day logistics.
  • Assist with content management for CSNSW website.
  • Coordinate the sourcing and ordering of promotional materials.
  • Attending to ad hoc duties as requested.
  • Monitor, maintain and enhance relevant webpage and digital engagement channels.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in communications, public relations and digital media.
  • Relevant qualification or academic qualifications in media, communications, marketing or a related field, or working towards.
  • Demonstrated competency or familiarity with WordPress.
  • Deep familiarity with social media channels and experience in creating compelling social media content.
  • Ability to identify potential opportunities and ability to drive online lead generation.
  • Experience in developing and distributing communications and marketing material.
  • A basic understanding of the metropolitan media environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining privacy, confidentiality and dealing respectfully with sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and monitoring social media channels and using social media publishing platforms and analytic tools.
  • Demonstrated effective research, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated event management experience.
  • Demonstrated competency using Microsoft Office and different social media platforms and a willingness to learn additional platforms as required.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and Events with multiple stakeholders and tasks.
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
