Level 5 | Fixed term – full time with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) leads the sustainable development of Western Australia’s regions and agriculture, aquaculture, food and fisheries sectors. About the opportunity
There is currently one (1) 12 month fixed-term position available for immediate filling.
This exciting opportunity will allow you to provide strategic input and develop innovative communication and stakeholder engagement strategies to engage with stakeholders from the primary industries sector, peak bodies and government. This role will work collaboratively with the wider communications team and across the department to develop the department’s major stakeholder activities including corporate events, community displays, roundtables, workshops and other external events with stakeholders. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining the department’s consultation platform and electronic newsletters, ensuring all information and messages are integrated across various platforms.
We are looking for individuals with:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communication and stakeholder engagement strategies within a complex organisation.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively.
  • Experience supporting major stakeholder activities including corporate events, community displays, roundtables, workshops and other engagement events with stakeholders.
  • Experience using engagement tools and templates, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, marketing automation tools, stakeholder engagement plans and style guides.
  • Highly developed written/verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.

Employment Conditions and Additional Information
DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency for animal and plant biosecurity and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.

To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia. To be eligible for a fixed term or a casual appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period as part of your application.
You will be required to provide a current National Police Certificate (police clearance) before commencing employment. If not currently held, this must be acquired prior to appointment at the applicant’s expense.
