About the role
We're seeking a Communications and Engagement Manager, responsible for developing and implementing engagement and communications plans and activities associated with Transurban's major projects in Victoria.
This role offers the chance to work on major infrastructure projects, provide strategic advice, manage Communications and community engagement during construction, build robust stakeholder relationships, and support seamless project integration into business operations.

Day-to-day, you will:
- Develop and deliver integrated Communications and stakeholder engagement strategies to support Transurban's role during construction and for operations as required
- Identify and foster relationships with key stakeholders, community partners, and government entities - including through working from a variety of locations and participating in a range of in-person meetings and events
- Oversee the delivery of community engagement activities for the project, including supporting construction contractors in strategy development and execution
- Lead event-based engagement, including community outreach activities and public events
- Proactively address community impacts and project-related issues, collaborating with internal stakeholders to mitigate risk and reduce impacts on stakeholders
- Oversee communication activities for construction, road works and closures, including marketing and advertising campaigns, community and motorist notifications, advertising, and social media/web materials
- Identify opportunities for positive media coverage and address potential media issues and risks
- Lead, mentor and coach a small team
- Strong stakeholder and community engagement skills
- Ability to identify opportunities and mitigate reputational risks
- Leadership skills to manage high-performing teams
- Ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives
- Strategic thinking with excellent planning and organisational abilities
- Exceptional verbal, written communication, public presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Negotiating and influencing skills to gain trust and motivate others
- Understanding of state and local politics
- Team-oriented, enthusiastic, self-starter
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in high-pressure environments
- Experience with large infrastructure projects in a regulated industry
- Experience developing and implementing partnerships with not-for-profits, academic institutions, and charitable organisations
- Knowledge of marketing aspects of communications delivery, such as advertising, media buying and scheduling
- Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, Commerce, or Business
