COTA Tasmania (Council on the Ageing) has been the voice of older Tasmanians for 60 years. COTA Tasmania is a well-respected peak not-for-profit organisation representing the interests of older Tasmanians through systemic advocacy and community engagement and consultation. We believe that ageing in Australia is a time of possibility, opportunity, and influence.
We deliver some significant state-wide events and a comprehensive communication program to engage community awareness of the issues impacting Tasmanians as they age - as well as the positive stories and achievements!
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Events and Communications Coordinator is responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating a high-quality program of events and communications for COTA Tasmania and the Tasmanians we represent. The position has a key role to play in the delivery of Seniors Week and the Walks Against Elder Abuse and is responsible for the coordination of our communications activities, including social media.
The dynamic position involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including funding partners. This is a diverse, hands-on role in a small but skilled team. It requires energy, attention to detail and a sense of fun!
The Events and Communications Coordinator helps create the public ‘face’ of COTA Tasmania, ensuring our engagement is visible and meaningful. The role works under the general direction of the Lead - Advocacy, Policy & Engagement.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
1.Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, events management or equivalent experience.
2. Demonstrated experience in all aspects of event planning, coordination and delivery.
AND:
- Communications and marketing experience .
- Experience executing content strategy and creation .
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write for a range of different purposes, channels and audiences .
- The ability to be creative in developing engaging experiences and communications.
- Excellent time management skills including working to deadlines, attending to detail at all times.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative mindset .
- High level project coordination skills and experience.
- Demonstrated experience and confidence in working autonomously.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety requirements and risk management planning.
- High proficiency in information technology skills including experience with Office 365 and contemporary CRM and data reporting software.
- Capacity to maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, build and participate in partnerships and participate actively in networks.
- A valid WWVP card (employment) and satisfactory national police check.
- Current Drivers Licence (unrestricted) and the ability to travel (inter and intrastate) as required.
Things that would be a bonus:
- Knowledge and interest in the issues and opportunities facing older Tasmanians
- Ability to create events and communication with an intergenerational focus
- Not for profit or community sector experience
