FARM GATE MARKET (FARMY)
A Hobart institution, Farmy has become one of the top five farmers’ markets in the Nation due to its size and scale, authenticity and contribution to the economy.
Launching in 2009 it was the first authentic farmers’ market in Tasmania and hosts between 50 – 75 Producers weekly across the four seasons, attracting approximately 5000 customers through its gates.
The market is underpinned by 3 strict principles that we never compromise:
- If you can’t eat it, drink it or grow it, it can’t be sold
- Everything must be produced within the geographical boundaries of Tasmania
- Only the person producing the goods can sell them
But more than this, it’s where Hobart comes together on a Sunday, where visitors to the State can immerse themselves in the breadth and depth of our agricultural and food industries and meet the heroes who make it happen.
