Are you a Communications and Events specialist looking to help support businesses and industry across the region? 

About the role

The Economic Development department are searching for a new member to join the team and lead this space. This role will be responsible for developing and executing communication and engagement strategies and manage initiatives from inception to completion within agreed scope, budget, and success criteria. On a day-to-day basis you will manage the digital and social media channels to share and generate content relevant to the audience. This will require you to have a finger on the pulse of both internal and external information sources.

Planning and delivering events across the year is a key aspect of serving the business community, so an understanding of small business and different industries is welcome. Events are both big and small ranging from galas to webinars. Banyule's Women in Business and Banyule Business Awards are two annual events this role will lead.

You will have an excellent eye for detail, the ability to effectively communicate with diverse internal and external audiences and be able to manage a broad range of deliverables simultaneously. It is expected that you possess initiative, can flex your creativity and lean into opportunities, all within the comfort of a dynamic and supportive team environment.

Skills, experience and certificates:

  • A tertiary qualification in a field relevant to Communications, Marketing, DigitalMedia, Events Management, Business or Economic Development
  • Extensive experience creating communication strategies and executing these across digital platforms and socialmedia.
  • Experience across events management. Including the creation, delivery, and post event lifecycle.
  • Strong project management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines manage workflows and work on multipleprojects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships to influence and negotiate desired outcomes with internal andexternal stakeholder
  • A successful track record in understanding and implementing major projects or events.
  • Knowledge of state and federal government and private sector business development programs.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Current Victorian driver's licence.
