Job description

Wildlife Health Australia (WHA) is the coordinating body for wildlife health in Australia, and initially began as a national initiative of the Australian Government in 2002[1]. WHA operates a virtual office and offers the flexibility of remote working arrangements.

WHA works with a network of government and private stakeholders across Australia to develop strong partnerships in order to better manage the adverse effects of wildlife diseases on Australia’s animal health industries, human health, biodiversity, trade and tourism. WHA participates in surveillance, investigation, monitoring, research and recording of wildlife disease events. WHA helps protect Australia’s trade, human health, biodiversity and tourism. 

WHA is seeking a motivated Communications Coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis (22.8 hours per week) to develop and implement our communications strategy. As a proactive individual, you will lead communications activities for the organisation, working closely with the Marketing Coordinator, Senior Leadership Team and WHA Board. The role includes developing content for media releases, campaigns, website, newsletters and social media as well as varied stakeholder engagement. An ideal candidate will possess the following, specific to the Communications Coordinator role:

Essential Selection Criteria 

  1. Extensive experience with communications and content creation, ability to work constructively with marketing initiatives
  2. Experience in stakeholder engagement 
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a high attention to detail 
  4. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and technologies that support internal and external communications
  5. Knowledge and/or background in the wildlife sector an advantage 
  6. This position is only open to applicants with the relevant rights to work in Australia.

Qualifications & Licences

  1. Formal training and or experience in communications, stakeholder engagement and or management or related disciplines highly desirable

Salary for this position is $90,957 p/a pro rata (0.6 FTE ~ $54,574) plus 11.5% superannuation.
