Are you a communications professional looking for a super broad role that will see you running with big projects autonomously?
Perhaps you are a journalist looking for a change of pace and a new team environment?
Maybe a recent graduate with some valuable communications professional experience?
Either way, I dare say this one is the job for you!
Carers Australia is the national peak body representing Australia’s unpaid carers, advocating on their behalf to influence policies and services at a national level. Their mission is to make Australia a better place for carers, the people they care for, and to the community as a whole.
They are a small team of super committed individuals who band together to achieve their goals, and like most NFP's in the community services space, they need an exceptional team of people focused on communications and media! And now they need you!
What is on offer for you?
This is one of those broad opportunities that won't limit you, it will instead stretch and mould you to further cement your career in Media & Communications. This role will use all the tools you have in your communications toolkit to successfully deliver a creative and impactful suite of communications content. That includes interviewing community members and curating meaningful stories; crafting pre & post event communications; identifying new & unique communications opportunities across various platforms; and working on large national media projects that you thought might take you years to find! This is just some of what you can expect - though your attitude to taking on all challenges thrown at you will see you doing this and so much more!
Just when you thought it was too good to be true...just kidding. You will also be working for a great manager who operates from a position of trust. You will be given the opportunity to deliver autonomously, but her door is always open for questions, as well as to hear all about your creative ideas and solutions you are excited to bring.
This will be on offer as a fixed-term contract through to June 30, 2025 in line with funding.
Salary on offer will be around $80,000 plus 11% super plus you get access to the FBT salary sacrifice benefits available to employees of a charitable organisation.
What are we looking for?
Breadth to easily manage the range of communications and media BAU and project tasks thrown at you!
Exceptional writing skills coupled with empathy and understanding - here is where your skills as a journalist would really set you apart.
Experience in managing web platforms in WordPress (or similar) and a creative eye.
Confidence to help curate and cement the Carers Australia identity and voice for members, carer and the community!
A skilled operator who looks for opportunities beyond just the obvious - curiosity to ask what more can we do to achieve our goals?
What do you need to bring to the role?
Demonstrated experience and prior success in a communications role is critical, as is your ability to work in a small team. You can act both reactively and proactively - you know how to scan and identify new opportunities but can confidently pivot to the demand and pace of media enquiries and opportunities.
Ideas ideas ideas!
Empathy and resilience - these do go hand-in-hand when working in community services.
The right attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty!
