The Communication Lead is responsible for building brand and reputation through the provision of strategic communications, media, issues and incident management. This leadership position will provide strategic advice on managing brand and reputation and will build on the communications team existing strengths to provide a proactive corporate communications function that leads the organisation’s brand narrative.A key focus will be delivering best practice communications across the organisation, to our customers and within the community to achieve the visions and objectives of our ambitious Strategy 2030. The Communications Lead will work closely with the Strategic Engagement and Sustainability Lead and Education Lead and other senior roles.Reporting Structure:

- Create inclusive and accessible communication materials for diverse audiences across earned, bought, and owned media.
- Oversee the production of visuals, graphic design, and multimedia content, ensuring consistent brand voice and storytelling.
- Manage media inquiries, proactive media opportunities, photo ops, events, and related communications activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and peers to amplify the organization’s messaging.
- Provide expert communication advice for planning, branding, market research, and best practices.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies to inform future initiatives.
- Lead a small team, mentoring and supporting them in the development and execution of communication plans.
- Manage crisis and incident communication strategies, including responses to pandemics, infrastructure failures, natural disasters, environmental damage, and workplace safety incidents.
- Foster an inclusive, diverse, and accountable organizational culture aligned with the company’s strategy, values, and behaviours.
- Motivate and inspire high performance through effective people management, feedback, mentoring, recruitment, and coaching.

- Extensive Experience in Government Communications: Prior experience in a government or regulatory environment is highly desirable.
- Political Awareness: Ability to leverage political knowledge to develop and lead effective communications strategies.
- Leadership in Communication Strategies: Proven experience in leading and delivering successful communication strategies, campaigns, and materials.
- Advanced Communication Skills: Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, adept at producing content tailored to various audiences across traditional and non-traditional channels to meet user needs and achieve business objectives.
- Project Management Expertise: Proven leadership in project management, including stakeholder engagement, scoping project outcomes, managing budgets and resources, adhering to timelines, risk management, and performance evaluation.
