Who is GBK?
Gur A Baradharaw Kod Sea and Land Council Torres Strait Islander Corporation (“GBK”) was established in 2012 as the peak body of all Registered Native Title Bodies Corporates (“PBCs”) in the Torres Strait. GBK is a not-for- profit organisation that works together with the PBCs in our region to provide support to the Native Title Holders.
About the Role
As the Communications Manager at GBK, you will be instrumental in crafting and executing our corporate communication strategy to enhance internal communications and community engagement. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape our organisation's messaging and foster meaningful internal and external connections.
The initial key focus areas of the role include:
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive corporate communication strategy for GBK, primarily focusing on enhancing internal communications and strengthening community engagement with our organisation's strategic vision.
- Coordinating and implementing strategic communication, educational, and promotional strategies tailored to individual programs, specific activities, and key GBK initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to Managers and the Board on marketing and communications strategies, leveraging insights and best practices to optimise our communication efforts and maximise impact.
- Maintain the currency of GBK's websites and digital content, overseeing the promotion of new content, key pages, and calls-to-action across social media channels to enhance visibility and engagement.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing strategic communication plans in a corporate setting, with a focus on internal communications and community engagement.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate organisational goals into actionable communication strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and influence decision-making at all levels.
- Proficiency in digital marketing and social media management, with experience in maintaining website content and leveraging digital channels to drive engagement.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of communication.
- Current Queensland ‘C’ class driver’s licence
- Current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card or ability to obtain
