The Opportunity
For this role we will be looking for skilled communicators with strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to manage multiple project requests and prioritise tasks. Organisation will be a must.
An AO5 Communications Officer helps technical and professional staff effectively communicate with the community, media, and other important groups. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Work on major projects in the district, advising project managers on how to communicate effectively. You will come up with plans and put them into action.
- Assist the leader of the Customer and Stakeholder Management team in advising top leaders and other staff on how to handle media, deal with problems, involve the community, and plan communication strategies.
- Oversee making sure all the materials needed for communication are ready. This includes things like press releases, newsletters, and speeches for district projects.
- Develop and carry out plans that help the district achieve its long-term goals through effective communication.
While qualifications are not mandatory, a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing is desirable.
Experience in a strategic communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector, will also be highly regarded.
