We are seeking a motivated and organised person to join our dynamic Communications team. The Communications Officer will contribute to the delivery of a busy reform communications program. You will provide all-round support for the team including administrative tasks, writing and editing for both internal and external audiences and channels, and managing communications requests from across the Commission.
The successful candidate will have an eagerness to learn and develop within the role in a supportive and collaborative working environment. The Communications Section leads delivery of a range of communications programs and initiatives to support the Commission’s role as the national regulator for aged care.
You will provide project management and reporting support and be central to effective planning and coordination of our busy work program. You will contribute to the delivery and evaluation of wide-ranging communications strategies and assist in the production of quality content and products.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. The role of the Commission is to protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of people receiving aged care.
The Commission is the national end-to-end regulator of aged care services and the primary point of contact for consumers and providers in relation to quality and safety. The position:
This full time non-ongoing role will be offered up to 30 June 2024 with the potential to extend.
Position Duties
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage, triage and track correspondence via the section inbox
- Assist with procurement activities including oversight of a procurement and contract tracker
- Provide project management support, including coordination and quality assurance of reporting and assisting with meeting preparation
- Draft communications content for internal and external audiences
- Assist with social media content creation as needed, including basic video editing
- Support the development and distribution of digital newsletters using Mailchimp as needed
- Support the development and delivery of external communication products and activities
- Contribute to delivering improved processes and procedures within the team.
Eligibility Requirements
- High level competence and capability in undertaking a diverse range of administrative tasks
- Demonstrated planning, project management and administration skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to concisely summarise information and data.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure, in a small team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively to resolve complex issues.
- A creative mindset to learning and problem-solving
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to quickly build effective professional relationships in a large complex organisation
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum 2 years’ experience in a communications-related role.
Position Notes
Salary offered will be between $79,854 - $86,359 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
