Women's Housing Limited (WHL) is a specialist Housing Provider with a mission to advocate for the housing needs of women and children and contribute to the growth of affordable housing stock. Since our establishment in 1997 - by women, for women - we've been listening to their experiences, and acting as their voice in the housing sector. WHL has a reputation for excellent practice as a housing developer, housing manager, and provider of client ancillary services.
This position sits within the Tenancy Service Team, reporting to the Tenancy Services Manager. The team consists of a Senior Tenancy Officer, Allocations and Rental Coordinator and 4 Tenancy Officers. With the future growth of the WHL portfolio, this team will grow in size over the coming twelve months.
The Community Development Officer will work across different locations including the Cremorne office. However, the role is primarily based in Brunswick. WHL are taking on an exciting new community housing development in Brunswick and the primary focus of this role will be in engaging with renters at this property to assist in creating a sustainable and thriving community.
This role will primarily focus on engaging with renters to foster positive tenancy outcomes, advocating for renter interests, implementing Community Development projects and seeking funding through grant opportunities and community engagement initiatives.

Key selection criteria include:
- Experience working in Community Development
- Good knowledge of social housing including challenges experienced by renters
- Ability to work with complex renters and sensitive topics (i.e., FV, mental health, drugs & alcohol, homelessness)
- Passion for advocacy
- Ability to manage projects including measuring progress and impact
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
