Community Development Officer - VicHealth Local Govt Partnership

$94,804.10 - $103,338.93 pro rata, per annum (plus super)

Temporary Part Time (until November 2025)

About the Role

Join an award-winning Children's Services Team, dynamic and passionate in supporting children and their families in the Greater Dandenong community. A recent resignation has created an opportunity for a Community Development Officer - VicHealth Local Govt Partnership

The primary purpose in this position is to:

  • Support the successful implementation and delivery of modules and related project initiatives associated with Council's VicHealth Local Government partnership program to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Greater Dandenong.
  • Support the development of and maintain relationships, networks and links to community and key organisations to contribute towards improving physical activity, healthy eating and mental health wellbeing outcomes for children and young people.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding.

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Science, Health, Community Development, Public Social Policy or equivalent along with relevant experience within a range Community Development projects or lesser qualifications and substantial experience in Community Development projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of education, health and wellbeing sectors and issues impacting children and young people and their families.
  • Highly developed advocacy and conflict resolution skills including the ability to facilitate meetings and workshops to maximise participation by individuals.
  • Demonstrated project management skills including planning, co-design principles and implementation and evaluation within a Community Development framework.
  • Experience in networking, coordinating, and liaising with a wide range of service providers and other relevant bodies.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication and presentation skills, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.
