Community Development Officer

Permanent Full Time – 35 hours per week, nine day fortnight
The City of Canada Bay is a thriving, colourful community, surrounded by the beautiful bays of Sydney Harbour. The area is also known for its parklands, cycle paths and walkways.
Are you looking for a role that offers you the opportunity to work with a diverse range of community and resident groups? Initially you will be engaging in the unique opportunity to be part of a new Community Development Team and assisting to implement Council’s preferred Community Development model and framework. Council’s Community Development Officer will deliver activities across the local government area by working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate project delivery.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining partnerships and relationships, and implementing programs that are responsive to community needs and build community capacity and participation
- Working within a team to achieve strategic goals and objectives
- Assisting with Council’s annual community grant program to assist local services and organisations to support the community
- Supporting Council’s Seniors’ Bus Trips
- Managing budgets to deliver a range of strategies and plans
The successful applicant will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Community Development, social sciences, or a similar field.
- Experience in Community Development or a comparable role.
- Preference for working collaboratively within a team
- Ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and partnerships
- Ability to develop projects and activities based on social and community plans
- Demonstrated experience in delivering community projects and programs.
- Financial management skills including managing project budgets
