About the role

Working in close collaboration with Aged Care Advocates, the Community Network Development Officer is responsible for delivering presentations at public events and small groups in the community. This role will develop and implement strategies to support the use of our self-advocacy toolkit to older people in your region and promote Seniors Rights Service to relevant stakeholders and community organisations who work with seniors.

This role will work to develop broader community awareness of the National Aged Care Advocacy Program and the role Seniors Rights Service plays in supporting older people, their families and representatives. These activities will have a focus on innovative activities that increase our geographic scope and our reach into diverse or isolated communities.

You will have the opportunity to exhibit excellent communication, consultation, networking and negotiating skills that will see you leverage key partnerships to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Role Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing strategies to support the use of our self-advocacy toolkit to older people in your region and promote Seniors Rights Service to relevant stakeholders and community organisations who work with seniors.
  • Developing new and supporting current internal and external relationships and partnerships with community groups, charities and volunteer organisations to improve engagement with our aged care advocacy services.
  • Increase community awareness of Seniors Rights Service and our advocacy programs through the development and review of facts sheets and other relevant resources for non-aged care settings.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective policies and procedures.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and development, in particular, working with community, volunteer or charity organisations
  • Sound ability to develop innovative approaches to activities that increase our geographic scope and our reach into diverse or isolated communities
  • Strong working knowledge of the development and delivery of presentations to a wide range of audiences such as community organisations and professional networks
  • Excellent partnership building and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent planning skills including well developed priority setting skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently including the ability to prioritise your own work and deliver results
  • Excellent computer skills, use of a client management system and fluency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Willing to use your own registered and comprehensively insured vehicle, where you will be reimbursed for work related milage claims
  • Prepared to undertake and maintain a National Criminal History check and hold a current NSW driver’s licence.
  • Be willing to travel interstate for work as required.
