About the Role

Reporting to the Community Engagement and Events Manager, the Community Engagement and Events Coordinator supports the development and implementation of a range of Community Engagement initiatives, including the execution of high-quality events.

The Community Engagement and Events Coordinator will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and understand the importance of establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster positive Community Engagement. As a self-starter, you will thrive in an environment where your creative flair and excellence in the management and delivery of quality events will be highly advantageous.  

Flexibility of hours is essential for this position, as you will be required to work some evenings and occasional weekends.

The key accountabilities include:

  • in consultation with the Community Engagement and Events Manager, coordinating and delivering School and stakeholder events, including invitations and registrations, database management, ticketing and event logistics
  • developing written engagement-related collateral (invitations, articles, newsletters, etc.) and undertaking other engagement tasks (such as creation of surveys, etc.) and where appropriate, sharing on relevant communication channels 
  • event production (bookings, AV, security, catering and other supplier requirements)
  • in consultation with the Community Engagement and Events Manager, developing and implementing strategic stakeholder engagement plans that align to the School’s strategic objectives
  • supporting staff with Community Engagement through a genuine understanding of the needs and requirements of stakeholders, and a commitment to developing thoughtful, effective and appropriate responses 
  • supporting day-to-day coordination of engagement activities, including through administrative tasks, such as database management
  • undertaking other relevant tasks as required by the Director of Communications and Engagement, or the Community Engagement and Events Manager  

You will also have:

  • tertiary qualifications in Communications, Events Management or a related field, with minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role
  • experience in working collaboratively with Communications and/or Marketing functions 
  • demonstrated experience in implementing Community Engagement plans, including production of associated collateral and material
  • experience in the use of digital platforms, including marketing automation systems, CRM and event booking systems, and WordPress (or other CMS systems) 
  • proven ability to liaise professionally with a range of stakeholders, understanding the importance of protocol and quality customer service 
  • strong organisational and time management skills to prioritise competing demands and deliver quality outcomes within tight timelines and budgets 
  • ability to acquire and maintain a Positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
