About Connected Women
Connected Women is a community for women over 50 that aims to reduce loneliness by fostering friendships through an online community and in-person events.
We are a small but dynamic team with a passion for improving our members' lives. We are looking to hire an Event Consultant who can share in our vision while also enhancing the culture of our business.
Connected Women will rebrand to Joy in mid-July, with many exciting projects in the roadmap.
Funded by RAC and head quartered in Perth, Joy is on a mission to improve the lives of women across the Country, by facilitating friendships through shared experiences and fun, empowering events.
We have 8,000 members and communities currently in WA, NSW, VIC and QLD.
About the role
The purpose of the role is to create a portfolio of member events, that add value for members and drive brand affinity for Joy, in line with the vision of the organisation.
Events are a critical way that Joy members connect with one another, and we aim to offer a diverse, interesting and relevant portfolio of events in each of the markets in which we operate.
The responsibilities include:
- Creating a calendar of member events, from concept through to execution, such as workshops, lessons and courses.
- Managing the administrative tasks involved with events, such as venue and catering, registration management, budget tracking and monitoring contractors and invoicing.
- Ensuring that all milestones and deadlines are met for each event.
- Negotiating rates with providers so that events can deliver a margin to the business.
- Managing event budget, making sure that all elements of the event fit within approved budget.
- Preparing event collateral.
- Creating a run sheet for each event.
- Promoting events within the community and manage RSVPs.
This is a three-month fixed term role initially with the potential to become permanent. Three days per week, ideally in the CBD-based office, but with flexibility to work from home as required.
About you
- Good IT skills, able to use Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel) with confidence
- Commercial awareness, able to support profit driven activity
- Knowledge of the importance of Health, Safety and Security
- Solid background in event production and/or management
- Have a passion for events
- Be able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Eager to contribute new ideas
- Ability to work efficiently, prioritise and manage deadlines
- A warm and engaging communication style and good culture fit for the team
