About the Role
The Community Engagement team has a reputation for planning and delivering quality engagement programs for internal clients (teams across the Shire) and community/stakeholders. If you thrive on these interactions, believe in creating shared value and connecting with the Peninsula community, we want to hear from you.
Listening and interacting with the community can be fulfilling, but also challenging at times. Our role is to be transparent, inclusive and collaborative to make sure our community is heard. Your work will lead to better decision outcomes for council by ensuring the community voice is considered.
We will get you up to speed with good practice CE methods and channels so you can work on community consultations with project teams across the Shire. No one project is the same. Some of the work includes capturing community sentiment, testing Shire actions/activities, policy/strategy development and even educating/creating awareness about the Shire’s diversity of services and initiatives.??
You will also work with us on our standing Citizens’ Panel (finalist in the 2023 LGPRO awards) and experience the positive impact of local democracy. You’ll gain valuable experience learning to plan and keep an online community engaged and transforming feedback from panel members into value outcomes for Shire teams.?
Reporting to the Coordinator – Community Engagement, the person we are looking for:
- Likes connecting with our diverse community
- Thrives in and contributes to a positive team environment
- Has commitment and patience to learn the ropes of being a Community Engagement Officer (It takes time, but we’ll get you there)
- Interest/experience relating to online and outreach engagement work (markets, information sessions, pop-ups)
- Available for rostered evening/weekend work (Time-in-Lieu and/or Overtime Pay)
Relationships
- Become a member of the Shire’s dynamic ACE (Advocacy, Communication and Engagement) team, reporting to the CE Coordinator
- Work closely with a fellow CE officer the CE Coordinator to hone your engagement skills
- Build and nurture relationships with different teams across the Shire
