As Rise’s new Community Engagement Officer, you will support people with serious and persistent mental illness on their journey of recovery through the delivery of group support activities and individual support.
You will support the facilitation of the Rivers group activities program, building on community networks and developing stakeholder relationship. In addition, you will coordinate the implementation and planning of joint events across the consortium and assists in implementing and embedding policy and procedure.
A typical day might look like…
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with Wungening Aboriginal Corporation and Multicultural Services Centre of Western Australia.
- Plan and coordinate community events for Mental Health clients in partnership with consortium members and the Peer Advisory Group.
- Support the planning and implementation of cohort focused workshops and activities in partnership with the Group Support Facilitator.
- Support people using a combination of person centred, strengths based, recovery orientated approaches in response their needs, and help them achieve identified goals and aspirations set to improve quality of life and psychosocial health.
- Respond to and support the management of crisis in collaboration with relevant Mental Health services.
- Resolve and record both complaints and compliments promptly and in line with organisational requirements.
This role is part-time, working 38 hours a fortnight. Hours must be worked on business days (Monday to Friday), with flexibility to choose your workdays & hours to suit your lifestyle! You will be required to travel to various Rise locations including our head office in Middle Swan, Warwick Arts Hub, Brown Park Community Centre along with some work-from-home.

Here at Rise, we nurture potential, but we do need you to have a few tricks up your sleeve including the following:
- Certificate IV or above in Mental Health/Human Services (Communities Services, Youth Work, Allied Health etc) and/or relevant work experience.
- Experience working under the Recovery Model of Mental Health and Person Led models of practise.
- Demonstrated skills to support others achieve goals and live a good life.
- Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery and assessment of workshops and activities that work to improve quality of life and mental wellbeing.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative, discernment and judgement while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Demonstrated ability to follow routines and procedures.
- Well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills within a variety of settings (1:1 and group).
- High level organisation and time management skills.

Appointments to this position will be subject to a NDIS Worker Screening Check / NDIS Worker Orientation Module/ Working with Children Check / First Aid Certificate / requires a driving licence and reliable vehicle to use for work purposes.
Costs for new checks will be covered and/or reimbursed by Rise.
