Job Title: Community Manager

Location: Chiswick, Greater London

About the role

A community of practice is an online environment that enables industry stakeholders to engage on key industry challenges, and priorities and develop ideas around solutions.

It creates a trusted environment for this engagement to flourish.

To enable engagement and participation to take place, the community will provide content to spark debate and bring new ideas. It includes both the digital platform and resources to encourage engagement.

A typical community has several dedicated forum areas, spaces for standards development and updates, resources, calendars, and other features as needed, all creating the ability to undertake structured engagement.

BSI has successfully deployed these communities for several high-profile projects and is now looking to build a further dedicated capability to continue the current growth of the service offer.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for each allocated community through working with internal BSI team members and client representative
  • Engage with clients and other key stakeholders to understand current and future strategies and approaches for individual communities.
  • Develop and maintain a pilot MVP community setup based on an existing third-party platform that can be deployed quickly and efficiently where there is a need identified to showcase community capability to obtain further funding for a full community offer.
  • Develop and keep an updated activity plan for each community fully interlinked with the content plan and offline activity.
  • Develop and make available training collateral for new and existing members of the communities.
  • Manage the ongoing onboarding program for new members including periodic review of the process.
  • Undertake ongoing scanning of community activity to identify trends, new areas of interest, and significant discussions and feed this back into the overall plan and set up and facilitate structured online discussions in line with the overall program plan including coaching of subject matter experts in the use of live online discussions.
  • Work with the Content Manager to develop and tactically utilise relevant content such as short social media-style posts that will nudge discussions within the community

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Experience of managing online business-to-business communities ideally within emerging sectors and industries
  • Developing, planning, and implementing online facilitation events
  • Gaining an understanding of client and industry requirements for communities and translating them into a specification.
  • Working and managing relationships with online portal /community providers and technical consultants,
  • Understanding how content can be used to create and facilitate online discussions
  • Budget management including both resources and expenses.
  • Operating in an agile style being adaptable to changes within the community and industry
  • Online facilitation skills to enable solutions to be developed from industry challenges
  • Operating in an agile style being adaptable to changes within each community
  • Proactive and results-orientated with great project management skills and the ability to balance multiple projects and spontaneous marketing opportunities that may arise
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels (both verbal and written), and confident in copywriting, editing, and crafting content
  • Great stakeholder management skills across all levels
