About the role

As the Community Partnerships Officer – Bushcare, you will be part of the Environment and Sustainability, Education and Awareness team and responsible for the delivery of Council’s Bushcare Program. 

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • manage, improve, and deliver bushcare programs in a way that ensures best practice in volunteer management
  • develop and deliver inductions and upskilling workshops for bushcare volunteers to achieve a high level of competency and understanding of Workplace Health and Safety requirements, applicable Council policies and best practice natural area management
  • assist bushcare groups in the development of annual plans and management of bushcare sites
  • undertake environmental site assessments, attend infrequent working bees, and support public events to support the groups on ground with technical advice
  • manage the bushcare program, volunteer budgets and undertake reporting 
  • provide advice on Community Partnerships and volunteer activities to other Council officers to strengthen and enhance Council programs and services

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

Mandatory:

  • current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence
  • experience in managing volunteers that deliver on ground environmental works with the community

Desirable:

  • tertiary qualifications in the environment or natural resource field or substantial equivalent experience sufficient to carry out the duties required
  • substantial experience in delivering environmental community projects, volunteer management and native regeneration project delivery
  • Experience in the delivery of natural resource management outcomes

This is a fixed-term, full time position until 29 November 2024 with a salary commencing at $93,169 plus superannuation of up to 12.5%
