About the Role
Community Transport Drivers ensure the clean, safe, reliable and comfortable transport of clients to and from destinations using Peppercorn Community Transport vehicles.
Role Objectives:
The primary objectives for the Transport Drivers are to:
- Drive and operate vehicles safely, following the safety requirements of Transport for NSW, NSW RMS Road Rules, and the Policy and Procedures of Peppercorn Services including WHS systems;
- Managing the passenger journey which includes preparing the vehicle for service, managing the passenger manifest using the electronic passenger system, recording passenger data, safely transporting passengers, and returning the vehicle to the garage or depot;
- Provide assistance to passengers including aiding clients to get on and off vehicles, loading wheelchairs and walking frames, collecting fares, and providing guidance to clients at various destinations; and
- Maintaining safety and compliance including completing vehicles inspection records and checklists, following safety procedures, and reporting hazards.
What you will Need (Essential Criteria)
The successful applicants will have:
- Current NSW Drivers Licence, Class LR
- First Aid Certificate
- A National Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check must be completed and cleared before employment may commence. These must be maintained and current throughout employment.
- Bus Driver Authority issued by the RMS
- A medical examination by a GP may be required to produce a Fitness to Work Certificate against the Functional Assessment of the role (minimum requirements: ability to lift 15kg).
- Demonstrated ability or willingness to learn and how to use a computerised booking system, general computer literacy and ability to use a tablet and/or smartphone.
- Demonstrated ability to drive a motor vehicle safely, demonstrated by a RMS Driving Record.
- Geographical knowledge (or map reading skills) of the Hawkesbury and surrounds.
- Ability to work respectfully with people, especially elderly and frail, including those from culturally and socially diverse backgrounds.
- Drivers are required to fully vaccinated for COVID19 in accordance with the requirements of state legislation.
Although not essential, experience or understanding of Community Transport and the needs of people with disabilities.
A National Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children check must be completed and cleared before employment may commence
