AddressParticipants within these services will have a high needs disability or severe and persistent mental illness and have complex behaviours associates with their diagnosis. Support will be provided in a residential setting with a single participant.
As a Complex Behavioural Support Worker, you will have a comprehensive knowledge of different mental health diagnosis and disabilities. You will also have experience supporting participants who show complex and challenging behaviour and be confident in responding to behaviours in a calm and professional manner and in line with behaviour support plans.
Your tasks may include but not be limited to the following:
- Behavioural management (physical and verbal aggression, property damage, absconding and sexualised behaviours)
- Work in a recovery-focused way
- Personal care
- Coordinate and implement social outings
- Day to day living support
- Complete detailed shift notes and incident reports.
- A proven track record working with people who show complex and challenging behaviours
- A strong understanding of ASD and how best to manage this
- Experience working with clients who are non-verbal
- Experience working with vulnerable people in a residential setting
- Comprehensive knowledge of different types of diagnosis
- Proven ability to work as a part of a close-knit team
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal
- Commitment to best practice
- Female (This position has a genuine occupational qualification requirement due to the requirement to provide intimate and personal care to female participants)
- Minimum Cert III qualification
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training (or equivalent)
- Full NSW Drivers License
- NDIS Worker Check
- WWCC
- First Aid - Less than 3 years old
- CPR less than 12 months old
- Mental Health First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain after a successful interview
- Willingness to undergo a police check
