East Coast Maritime was founded at Gladstone in 2004 and has grown to become a highly respected provider of specialist services to the Australian inshore and offshore maritime sectors.
We are looking for a permanent part-time Compliance Officer to join our friendly team in Gladstone. This role is integral to the success of our business to ensure we continue to uphold the standards we have set for ourselves and continue to develop our systems in accordance with relevant legislation.
You will be supported by our tight-knit team with the first-hand knowledge and industry experience you need to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities of the role:
- Conduct internal audits including preparing, monitoring, and closing corrective actions/plans.
- Conduct vessel audits including preparing, monitoring, and closing corrective actions/plans.
- Conduct safety and environmental risk assessments.
- Conduct legislation reviews to ensure the company is meeting relevant standards.
- Review, maintain, and develop management systems, policies, and procedures.
- Receive, process, and investigate incidents.
- Initial point of contact for all Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) matters within the company.
- Coordinate and chair team meetings and safety briefs.
- Other internal projects, as required.
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience of 3+ years working in compliance or safety. We will be particularly interested in applicants that demonstrate the following background:
- Experience with auditing activities.
- Safety qualifications and training is highly regarded.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management to maintain constructive relationships.
- Problem solving skills with the ability to analyse options and provide recommendations.
- Responsiveness to shifting priorities and the ability to be flexible with time-sensitive tasks.
