The Opportunity
This position will ensure properties operating Short Stay letting and home hosted accommodation are lawful and adhere to the requirements of the Short Stay Letting or Home Hosted Accommodation local law.
The position will contribute to the preservation and protection of residential amenity enjoyed by Noosa Shire’s permanent residents by managing and responding to complaints and non-compliance matters against the local law.

About You
To undertake this position, you will have excellent customer service skills with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with members of the public, community groups and businesses.
You will have the proven ability to undertake sound decision making and conduct investigations, exercising judgement and initiative, on often complex matters.
Furthermore, the successful incumbent will have proven experience in a regulatory role within a dynamic, customer focused work environment, including experience in the field of development compliance and enforcement.
The position's focus will be:
- Review and assess documents and material submitted with applications for Short Stay letting and home hosted accommodation in accordance with the requirements of the local law for Short Stay letting and home hosted accommodation.
- Assess and determine if the Short Stay letting activity is lawful against the Noosa Plan 2020 or existing use rights under superseded planning schemes.
- Review development requirements and approvals to ensure applications are compliant with approval conditions, statutory requirements and Noosa Plan 2020 or superseded planning schemes.
- Assess and decide applications for Short Stay letting and home hosted accommodation and issue approvals in accordance with the local law for Short Stay letting or home hosted accommodation.
- Respond to, investigate, and seek to resolve complaints of breaches against local law approvals and undertake enforcement action in accordance with Local Law 1 (Administration) 2015.
- Provide sound advice and respond to queries and requests of a technical and general nature relating to Short Stay letting and home hosted accommodation, to internal and external stakeholders including residents, landowners, property agents, letting agents, developers, internal officers, professionals, and the general public.
- Take a lead on specific projects or work in project teams, according to particular skills, expertise and interest to meet business needs.
- Accurately interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy, guidelines, and best practice procedures in the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
- Exercise initiative and a degree of autonomy in making decisions, solving problems, and resolving conflicts in relation to Assessment and Compliance activities.
- Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.
